Navigating NDIS
Have you ever navigated the NDIS, the National Disability Insurance Scheme for yourself or a loved one? In Australia, 1 in 6 people have a disability that’s around 4.4 million people. There are around 400,00 people with disability supported by the NDIS
In November, the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of people with disability reported on the ‘experiences of people with disability during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic’. In the hearing the commission reported “Respondents spoke of the anxiety, isolation and neglect caused by the cancellation or disruption of essential services including disability supports and community access” and found that there was a “lack of clarity over the ‘essential’ status and continuity of disability support services”.
River Night, CEO and founder of Australian Communities spoke about navigating the NDIS and the impacts of Covid-19 on receiving disability services.
