Is the NDIS incompatible with the realities of the Northern Territory?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme or NDIS has been under fire as service providers have alleged the plan is not realistic for the Northern Territory. On Friday, an independent review of pricing under the NDIS was heard from disability service workers in Darwin on friday about the issue. Noelene Swanson, the Northern Territory state manager for National Disability Services stated “The bottom line is that the hourly rate to provide services in the Territory isn’t sufficient to do so, at least not to provide services that are of a reasonable quality,” she said. Charlie Jacobs, a Policy Analyst in Indigenous Affairs from The Centre of Independent Studies spoke to us on The Daily.
