New Data Breach Laws come into effect this month
The self-serve rental car company GoGet have sent out an email letting customers know the company experienced a hack in June last year.
On the 22nd of February, Mandatory data breach notification laws will come into place changing how companies deal with the issue.
Brendan Tomlinson, a special counsel at Maddocks discussed how this new law will put pressure and certain requirements on companies to take action when a breach occurs. It focuses on protecting consumers against three things: unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure and loss of information by the company.
