New Horizons for Space Exploration: Ultima Thule

Ultima Thule – a ball of dust and ice that’s 6.5 billion kilometres from earth – has just been passed by NASA’s New Horizons Probe. On Tuesday morning, the probe was slated to reach the “third zone” in the uncharted heart of the Kuiper Belt. While scientists at NASA cheer at this find of Ultima Thule, it will still take a few months to receive the data from the investigation. But what else is there to know about this probe, and how much deeper can it explore? We brought Alice Gorman on today to answer our questions.
