New miscarriage bill passed Federal Parliament
Parents will now be entitled to two days of paid bereavement leave if they experience a miscarriage under new laws federal parliament passed this week.
Before this bill passed, parents were only entitled to unpaid special maternity leave and it only applied to miscarriages happening after 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Advocates such as the Pink Elephants Support Network say this is a huge step for parents in grief, and will reduce the stigma and silence around the topic.
