A new mosquito emoji could help battle diseases
Has your smartphone keyboard been lacking in the mozzie emoji department? Well fear no more, because the Unicode Consortium has decided to release a bunch of new emojis, including a softball, a women’s flat shoe, and of course, a mosquito.
But could this new emoji actually have a real impact on the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like the Zika virus or Malaria? And what does the Bill Gates Foundation have to do with it? Nic talked to Dr Cameron Webb, Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University, and Principal Hospital Scientist with the Department of Medical Entomology at Pathology West at Westmead.
