New Music with Andrew Khedoori
Once again 2SER’s music guru Andrew Khedoori was in house to acquaint us with some pretty chilled out new vibes for the week.
Start off with the ambient, experimental textures of former-2SER Presenter Acharné (aka deepchild), with track Black Ochre off new album Innocence in Suburbia. Andrew describes the track as an evocative, atmospheric blend of electronica, akin to a cityscape-style vibe.
Then take a trip back to the 90s, with Indie giant Helium’s complete works being repackaged for vinyl by former member Mary Timony. Andrew selected Leon’s Space Song from the collection, which embodies Timony’s sharp lyricism and trademark 90s sound, traversing the riot girl sounds of Bikini Kill, into a pavement-style slacker pop, and then a hazy shoegaze dream pop.
Complete your week of new music with Roller Skates, off Brooklyn-based Nick Hakim’s debut album Green Twins. Hakim’s incredibly soulful voice acts as the centrepiece of an intriguing accompaniment of sounds and textures, stemming from his South American heritage. The music also features Unknown Mortal Orchestra, who fuel the dusty, psychedelic soulful beats, gritty low-fi sounds and hazy, occasionally cheesy, balladry.
