New Music with Steph Liong

Steph Liong is filling in this week for Andrew Khedoori to bring you this week’s new music.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio is a new Seattle group that have just released their debut album Close but no Cigar. A classic sound with great energy that fuses soul, jazz, rhythm & blues and rock.

If you’re a fan of Solange or Blood Orange, make sure you listen to the debut album Language by Starchild & the New Romantic, the solo moniker of Brendan Cook. A fun mix of 70s and 80s funk, contemporary R&B and some psychedelic synth finished with smooth, velvety vocals.

And finally, we head down to Geelong for some gritty garage rock by Vintage Crop with their album New Age. It was recorded in an 8 hour session and covers everything from alien misadventures to missing garden gnomes. If this sounds like it’s up your alley, be sure to check out “Gerald Part 1” for a taste of this great Geelong sound.
