New Music with Steph Liong

Steph Liong is back delivering the new music for the week!

Starting off with Te’Amir, the talented LA producer who records with soul singer Aloe Blacc, and has played drums for the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Kamasi Washington. His new EP “Abyssinia” pays homage to his Ethiopian roots  with it’s smooth, soulful tones, while he also showcases his love of hip-hop throughout. This track is called “Africa”.

Then onto something more local with the return of much loved Brisbane band Regurgitator. They went on a hiatus in 2013, with a few shows in 2015, but they are well and truly back with the release of their 9th album “HEADROXX”. This album has the usual spicing of genres they’re known for, and really shows off their songwriting skills; check out “Fortress”.

Finishing up with the debut and self-produced album “There’s Always Glimmer” from Chicago based singer-songwriter Gia Margaret (pictured). The album is sweet and intimate with a loose flow throughout, but also has an immediacy to it thanks to her storytelling and darkly comedic lyricism. Take a listen to “Birthday”.
