New Music With Steph Liong

Steph Liong is back with three fresh new tracks!

Kicking off your Monday morning is Lola Kirke with her debut album Heart Head WestHaving graced screens in films such as Gone Girl, the actor turned musician was raised on Gram Parsons, which shines through her debut record. The record melds classic country twang with a warm soulful center. Lola’s father Simon Kirke, who played the drums in Bad Company and Free, should be proud.

Spider Bags have returned with their 5th album Someday Everything Will Be Fine. The new album retains their high energy while projecting a fresh creative energy with the addition of Moog synths. The albums slight slacker vibe and subtle references to country music can be indirectly attributed to its recording in Tennessee, the home-state of country music in the United States.

Rounding up new music for this week is an artist not unfamiliar to 2SER listeners, Jonathan Something. His debut album is of the same name of the single we have been spinning as of late, Outlandish Poetica. The indie pop record is cheery and bright and champions the quirky and vivid lyrical imagery that is often associated with the genre.
