New Music with Steph Liong
Starting another Monday the right way with Steph Liong and new music.
Forty years since Talking Heads’ Remain in Light album, Angelique Kidjo’s reworked it in her unique style. She’s used some of the original African influences, adding a blues sound and really uplifting vocals. Take a listen to her twist on ‘Once in a Lifetime’.
Matthew Tavares, going solo as ‘Matty’, has released his album Déjàvu. It steers from his usual jazz style, giving us a psychedelic pop sound with various instrumentals and orchestration. Here’s ‘Nothing Yet’, which like the rest of his songs, is written about some of his family and friends.
LA producer and pianist Keifer Shackelford’s album Happysad is now out. Also going by his first name, Keifer, he’s previously produced for Anderson Paak and Kaytranada. Chill out to his track, ‘Highway 46’, as Steph recommends, while your cruising down the highway with your windows down. Keifer’s giving us some jazz inspired, good vibe beats and piano melodies here.
