New Music with Tim Higgins
Tim Higgins is back to take us on a musical adventure with the new music for the week.
Starting in Australia we have the debut solo album of Lachlan Denton, from 2SER favourite The Ocean Party. The album, Two Months in Ben Woolley’s Room was written after the end of an eight year relationship and demonstrates honest and personal song at its best. If you love indie pop and folk music, take a listen to ‘Sedan’ to hear his timeless melodies.
If you are after a different sound, the unique and talented Kadhja Bonet has released her second album, Childqueen, on which she wrote, recorded, sang and played all the instruments that you hear. It is an interesting album, filled with immersive and atmospheric neo-soul and vocals that are out of this world. Tantalise your ears with ‘Another Time Lover’.
Prepare yourself for another obscure gem in African Scream Contest Vol. 2, a compilation of recordings from between 1963 and 1980 coming out of Benin. Analog Africa have a knack for unearthing incredible African soul tracks, and this album is no different. Start your Monday with this raw, gritty and downright funky album. Check out ‘Asaw Fofor’ by Ignace de Souza and the Melody Aces to listen to these irresistible grooves.
