New Optical Fibre will turbo charge internet speeds and comms
Macquarie University researchers have developed a new glass chip, etched by 3D lasers which is essential to the creation of a 19-core optical fibre. They been working with Japanese, Dutch and Italian engineers and scientists on the invention.
A single 19 core fibre, the size of human hair, will be able to carry the equivalent of 17 million NBN home connections which will revolutionise communications between continents and countries.
