New Play About the Father of Public Relations

‘Lunch With Bernays’ is a new play written by Bryce Bofinger following the life of Edward Bernays.

He is to be interviewed for feminist scholar Susan Henry’s new book. But no sooner does the interview begin, figures from his past – his rebellious daughter Anne, his uncle Sigmund, US presidents, and a fascist propagandist – return to haunt him. As Anne and her rotating wardrobe of characters vie for control of both the interview and the show, the cracks in Eddie’s own image begin to emerge, and he is forced to grapple with the reality of his own legacy.

We spoke to director, Sam Spring, about the man and his revolutionary techniques.
