New Push for a Sugar Tax on Soft Drinks

We Australians love our soft drinks. Australians are one of the top-10 consumers of soft drinks per capita in the world, consuming over 1 billion litres of the stuff every year. A recent report from the Australian Medical Association has outlined a proposal to intervene in our sugar addiction, by placing a tax on sugary beverages and a ban on junk food advertising. But will these proposals lead to better health outcomes for Australians?

The Daily was joined by Doctor Tony Bartone, Vice President of the Australian Medical Association to discuss the suggestion of a sugar tax.
