New Study Finds Link Between Pregnant Women and Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a serious problem in Australia, and a new study at a Western Sydney hospital has just discovered that pregnant women are increasingly likely to have experienced domestic abuse. Tess talked to practicing midwife, Professor of Midwifery and Higher Degree Director at Western Sydney University, Hannah Dahlen. She says that just because a woman is going through domestic violence doesn’t mean she will disclose that fact to anyone, and so the rates of abuse could potentially be even higher than the study has found. Hannah also told us what needs to change for domestic violence to decrease in Australia.
