New Supernova in the Pinwheel Galaxy

Earlier this month, Northern Hemisphere astronomers noticed a new supernova in the spectacular Pinwheel Galaxy in the Big Dipper. The supernova was promptly named with the distinct and memorable name SN 2023xif. Due to its position in a particularly popular target for amateur astronomers, a lot of data and images have been made available to the public. Dr. Tanya Hill, Curator of Melbourne Planetarium joined Cameron Furlong on the Wednesday Daily to chat all about it.
