Newstart recipients suffering poor health
Studies indicate that Newstart recipients are six times more likely to suffer poor health and a higher prevalence of disease. The study from Monash University finds that people reported stark differences in their health as opposed to those in paid work. Its proposed that an increase in the unemployment benefit could significantly help these health problems and get people back into work. Lead researcher for the study Professor Alex Collie from Monash University joins the conversation to discuss these findings.
