“No Contraception, No Dole”: What it would actually mean for women.
Imagine if you were refused Centrelink on the basis of not being on a contraceptive? An Aussie politician has laid out the argument that women need contraception to get on welfare. In his new book ‘No Contraception, No Dole’ former labor MP Gary Johns argues that such a proposal could end intergenerational welfare dependence in families. Critics say it’s a police state argument that could have serious consequences in practice. Feminist and acitivist, Jane Caro spoke to The Daily about what it would actually mean for women.
