Northern Territory Government Unveils Royal Commission Response
The Northern Territory Government says it will support all but 10 of the 227 recommendations given by the Royal Commission into youth justice, but did not guaranteed to fully implement or fund those recommendations. However, the NT Government has begun to uphold some of the recommendations, allocating $70 million to replace both the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre and the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre with two new youth justice centres. Despite the welcomed changes, finding funds to implement more projects in accordance to this has been uncertain. Will significant improvements for youth protection take place?
