Not News with Max Grieve
Not News is our weekly segment where we pull back the curtains on the news hitting headlines to find out what we should have been hearing about instead.
This week, making headlines was the purported assassination of a Russian journalist who turned up alive and well (after not even telling his wife about the hoax). In more royal news, it has been said that one of Meghan Markle’s favourite things is to be political. However apparently this won’t garner any favour with the Queen, so perhaps she’ll be sticking to her charitable endeavours from now on. And after Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets resulted in the the head of ABC parent company Disney calling Valerie Jarrett, Roseanne’s target, to apologise, US President Donald Trump wondered why he didn’t received a similar apology about ‘horrible’ statements made about him on the ABC.
What should have we heard more about? Following Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico last year there was a reported death toll of 64, however a new study by Harvard suggests that the total toll from the disaster was, in fact, a whopping 4,645 deaths.
