The male-dominated music industry can be an intimidating and scary place to enter, regardless of your age, but the Girls Rock! Sydney initiative is aiming to give girls, trans and non-binary youths the chance to learn new skills, give them the confidence to pursue it and rub shoulders with some others non-males in the industry.

We spoke to Kim Tan about the event, the reason behind it and what the youngsters will experience in the weeklong camp.

The Sydney camp is being held from January the 15th until the 19th with a showcase performance on the 20th, all at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville.

Registrations will be closing on Sunday, the 7th of January. They are also seeking sponsors and donations of equipment. Check out their website and Facebook for details.
