NPI Findings: Coal, Health and You

The latest National Pollutant Inventory report released at the end of March has been said to reveal the ‘total failure’ of Australian governments to control air pollution. Exposing the need for tighter pollution control and regulation, Environmental Justice Australia has been quick to emphasize the health damage unconstrained pollution emission causes. Ninety three health compromising toxins currently released by four thousand enterprises are said to catalyse premature death by worsening existing heart and lung conditions. With the annual health damage bill from air pollution coming in at between $11 billion and $24.3 billion, this seems a major issue nobody’s talking about.

The Daily extrapolated on this issue with Dr James Whelan, from Environmental Justice Australia.
