Early last week, the NSW government axed the inclusion of ‘no fishing zones’ in a proposed Sydney marine park along Australia’s east coast. Around 25 conservation sites are set to be implemented between Newcastle and Wollongong, but now that restrictions on fishing have been back-flipped on, the ability of these sites to protect ocean life is now questionable.
