NSW Government to Rollout Mobile Detection Cameras
This week the Berejiklian Government announced they are aiming to change the culture on NSW roads by permanently setting up cameras to detect motorists using mobile phones. Following a trial over the last 6 months, 8.5 million cars were checked and more than 100,000 drivers were found to be using their phones illegally. The NSW Government plan to spend $88 million on fixed and portable cameras, which will be placed at 45 spots across the state to be rolled out by December. These high-definition cameras use artificial intelligence to spot drivers, regardless of the weather or the time of day.
Today we have Professor Maxwell Cameron from Monash University Accident Research Ctr on the line the to discuss this.
