Obesity, social stigma and mental health
Eating disorders come in a variety of forms and impact large subsection of society with approximately 4 per cent of the Australian population being affected according to the Butterfly Foundation. Binge eating and bulimia are common eating disorders for those trying to lose weight and are often linked with fat shaming and the social stigma surrounding obesity. Nic was joined by Professor John Dixon, Head of Clinical Obesity Research from Monash University to discuss obesity, its social stigma and how this can impact one’s mental health.
