Okra Solar Energy Sharing
Nearly 20% of the world’s population is still living off-the-grid, without access to basic electricity and appliances. Motivated by the growth of both solar power and the sharing economy, Sydneysiders Afnan Hannan and Damien Veling have co-founded a startup called Okra to tackle this issue. Their project will take solar sharing technology to previously disconnected households in Cambodia, and they joined Nic in the studio to chat about it and their crowdfunding campaign.
