Older Women and Increased Risk of Homelessness

Tuesday Daily host Jessie Kay spoke to Dini Liyanarachchi from Housing for the Aged Action Group about the parliamentary inquiry into older people and homelessness.

We spoke specifically about older women being the biggest growing demographic of homeless people in recent years.

This week, the inquiry handed down its recommendations for resolving the issue.

These key recommendations of NSW Ageing on the Edge Forum endorsed by the Committee include:

Funding a specialist older person’s housing information and support service that comprises both an early intervention and crisis response.
Build more social and affordable homes that meet the needs of older people.
