On-the-spot police DVOs may harm marginalised victims: advocates

Queensland Police officers responding to domestic and family violence incidents will have the power to issue on-the-spot 12-month Police Protection Directions, also known as Domestic Violence Orders from next year.
The Queensland government says they have consulted with stakeholders on the proposed changes.
But victim-survivor advocates, particularly First Nations women, are concerned these increased police powers will harm those most in need of protection.
