One thousand Australians in need for bone marrow

Bone Marrow Donor Day kicks off on 16 September, raising awareness about the importance of donating bone marrow to treat blood cancer.

Around 20,000 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with blood cancer this year, and the donor pool is not meeting local patients’ needs.

On top of this, more donors from different cultural backgrounds are needed because of the genetic match, making it more difficult to save lives.
