As part of the Sydney Festival, Othering is a performance not to be missed. It reflects on the blasé ill treatment of people with dwarfism, and those who are perceived as ‘outside the norm’. By emphasising the reactions, attitudes, and behaviours of the broader society, Othering encourages the audience to experience the world ‘as if’ they are a person with dwarfism revealing an uncomfortable truth – if you look different, you stand out from the crowd – but that’s not always a good thing.
