Our Heritage Put on Ice
Prior to the 2019 election the NSW state government had promised to protect the Macquarie Ice rink as a heritage listed site. However, the state government has now confirmed it has no intention of doing so. The City of Ryde Council is pushing back to keep the ice rink protected.
Today we are joined by City of Ryde Mayor Jerome Laxale to talk to us about the significance of the Macquarie Ice Rink as a cultural site, and the struggle they’ve faced to protect it.
