Out of season coral spawning giving hope to Great Barrier Reef

Spring is upon us and with it an increase in temperature which is good news for putting the winter jacket away but not for our Great Barrier Reef. Increased temperatures and storm damage has led to our national icon dying off more each year but there are some scientists out there working to grow coral on demand to help restore the reef. Maddy, our host, talked about this with Dr Carly Randall a benthic and restoration ecologist with the Australian Institute of Marine Science.
