Outrage over local council’s decision to ban books featuring same-sex parents
Advocates are fighting to reverse a western Sydney council’s decision to ban books featuring same-sex parents.
At the beginning of May, Cumberland City council voted to “rid” publicly-funded libraries of any books that show same-sex parents. The state government has now warned the ban breaches public library guidelines, and could lead to funding cuts for the libraries.
