The first part of Premier Li’s historic Australian visit was to Adelaide to announce a new set of Pandas for Adelaide Zoo.  This was a good start, you don’t get Pandas if China is unhappy with you.  But there were other challenges in what has been a rocky few years for the Australia China relationship.

Awkward moments like the journalist Cheng Lei being blocked from view by Chinese officials and protesters outside venues, were largely overshadowed by progress made with the relationship with Anthony Albanese and Li Quiang.
