Why do people choose volunteer tourism over a typical holiday?
For the volunteer tourist, the trip is most commonly steered by sense of altruism, to go abroad and help a disadvantaged persons or community.
But when do good intentions turn bitter? And when does volunteer tourism become a burden rather than a blessing?
