Paving pathways for transgender youth
Nearly half of young transgender people in Australia have attempted suicide at some point in their lives.
This figure comes from the Trans Pathways report released at the beginning of the month, the largest study ever conducted around the mental health of trans and gender diverse young people in Australia.
Young trans people also face numerous barriers when it comes to seeking help from medical or mental health services – with a lack of education and understanding limiting access to appropriate care.
