Pharmaceutical Drugs Overtake Illicit Drugs in Misuse

Pharmaceutical drugs have now overtaken illicit drugs in drug abuse rates, according to a recent report released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. This includes prescription drugs such as codeine, oxycodone and morphine, which are generally used for pain relief. 2SER had a chat with Matthew James, the deputy director of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, to further discuss the report.
