Philanthropy: Everyone Wins!
Who doesn’t love a philanthropist? Some famous examples such as Bill Gates, Bono from U2 or Fred Hollows who restored sight to thousands seem to encapsulate the very best of our better natures when it comes to generosity. And that may well be why here in Australia we’ve allowed philanthropic organisations operate without much oversight for so long, so little oversight in fact we don’t even have numbers on how many exist. There is a distinction between charities and philanthropic organisations you see and it’s an important one in terms of how they operate and how much the larger community benefits. Discussing with The Daily was Elizabeth Cham, Honorary Fellow from the University of Technology Sydney Business School.
