Philippines Fight Club – Marcos vs Duterte

Filipino politics are known for their political dynasties, the Marcos, the Aquinos and more recently the Dutertes. At last election we saw two dynasties team up on a unity ticket with Bongbong Marcos joining the daughter of president Rodrigo Duterte, a move that would catapult the son of the former dictator to the presidency.
However, in government this alliance has fractured as vice-president Sara Duterte and her father have been increasingly critical of the president, which has resulted in insults, death threats, allegations of corruption and last week an impeachment vote.
Stephen Hill asked Professor Aries Arugay what has been the catalyst that has soured the relationship between these two political heavyweights.
