PIAC – Investing in the NDIS

The NDIS supports more than half a million Australians living with disability. It provides funding for services and supports so people with disability and their families can have greater independence, access jobs and education, and have a better quality of life.

The Opposition Leader recently suggested that Australia’s AUKUS submarine program could be funded by cuts to the NDIS. There have been sustained attacks on the NDIS in recent months, particularly within conservative media, with arguments that the scheme is not ‘sustainable’ due to its cost.

The Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) are an independent, non-profit organisation that works with people and communities who are marginalised and facing disadvantage, who believe that the NDIS must be defended as an investment in our social infrastructure.

PIAC CEO Jonathon Hunyor joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss the importance of continued investment in the NDIS. You can also check out Jonathan’s opinion piece for the Canberra Times.
