Plate It Forward at Vivid Food

As part of Vivid Food, Carriageworks has partnered with local enterprise Plate it Forward to see Coyoacán Social take up residence at the Carriageworks precinct during Vivid Sydney’s live music programme. They’ll be serving up authentic Mexican street food with a purpose — for every taco bought, a meal will be donated via local community kitchens for people in need.

CEO of Plate it Forward, Shaun Christie-David, was on Monday Drive to chat about his experience in creating restaurants run by refugees and migrants, food as a universal love language, and why he picked to serve authentic Mexican food at Vivid. The Coyoacan Social pop-up is also offering a happy hour special before every live music event at Carriageworks during Vivid Sydney. Visitors can get 3 x tacos and a Bumbu Dark & Stormy cocktail for $30 in the 90 minutes before each show.

Coyoacán Social is part of Plate It Forward (founded by Shaun), a charity that provides meals to those in need as well as hospitality training for refugees. Plate It Forward also owns and operates the restaurants Colombo Social, Kabul Social and Kyiv Social. For every taco a meal will be donated via local community kitchens for people in need, so eat as much tacos as you can afford!
