Does Pop Culture Distort Our Views On Body Image?
Earlier this week the 68Th Primetime Emmy Awards were held in California. A glamourous event with everyone dressed to the nines the awards celebrates talent. There was much to celebrate with 4 openly LGBTQIA+ women winning awards. But what often overshadows the celebrations in the scrutiny of men and in particular women and their outfits. Whilst it is a celebration for those attending and dressing up to celebrate the night, those at home watching the creative arts awards are left comparing themselves to unnatural social constructs of what constitutes the perfect body image. Katharine Hawkins from Macquarie university department of gender studies joined us on The Daily to talk about these issues.
