Possible HECS system for TAFE funding
According to a recent report, the New South Wales government will launch an educational review into TAFE’s training system and may introduce HECS style funding options. Their justifications are that it would improve perceptions of TAFE – as equally viable academic alternatives to universities – as well as improving teaching technologies and making it easier for TAFE institutions to teach newer trades like robotics and 3D printing.
This proposition has been criticised already, the Tuesday Daily’s Ruby Innes had a chat with NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge about the criticisms, as well as how TAFE could thrive in the future by looking to the past.
