Why do pregnant women use complementary medicine?
Almost 60% of women use complementary medicine during pregnancy.
Complementary medicine includes things like yoga, herbal medicines, chiropractics and osteopathy.
The jury is still out on whether complementary medicine is effective full stop, so when using it when pregnant women may be putting their unborn child in danger.
Dr Jane Frawley is a researcher from the UTS Faculty of Health. She has been researching why women use complementary medicine during pregnancy.
