Premier Brushes Off Plastic Bag Ban Responsibility To Supermarkets

Earlier this week it was announced that NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will no longer follow through with legislation to ban single use plastic bags. This announcement comes after Coles and Woolworths declared they will phase out the use of plastic bags over the next 12 months. The Greens MP Dr. Mehreen Faruqi has responded to the premiers announcement by pointing out that the government should not shrug it’s responsibility to the environment or leave it in the hands of big business. The Daily was joined by Greens MP Dr Mehreen Faruqi to further discuss possible implications of the premier’s announcement.
