PREMIERE: Big Dog Deliver Their Ace-In-The-Hole With ‘COWBOY’
There’s a flourishing alternative folk rock scene currently brewing in ol’ Sydney town.
In recent years, we’ve seen the likes of Lady Lyon, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys, and Babitha kick the dust up from the streets that are steeped in vibrant history.
But now with the release of their third single, a name that warrants inclusion in the ever growing-circle of lamenting guitar strumming, brass slide slinging and prairie preaching is Sydney’s very own Big Dog.
Following on from last year’s tracks; I Used To Feel It All The Time (IUTFIATT) and Fight It Now, Big Dog are set to drop their most realised tune to date – COWBOY.
Their ode to the dangerous relationship and one that often stings like a spur in the side when things change direction.
Recorded during a trip up to Newcastle, Cowboy is soaked in that golden twilight that can only be conjured with Big Dog’s acoustic guitarist Netta allowing her vocals to hold centre stage for the first time. A lackadaisical, yet swoonful experience, you could say that Cowboy is a bittersweet love song. Despite the heartache and pain, there is something euphoric about purging the experience
““I love that final chorus. Where everyone becomes entangled with each other, Mark’s vocal harmonies finally come in, Shane’s guitar soars up… and I can let loose” – Netta Dor”
To celebrate the release of Cowboy, Big Dog will be taking to the stage with two sets at Waywards at The Bank Hotel on Thursday the 25th March, with their friends Grids & Dots.
