The recent Australian Research Council rule change, banning grant applications that cite preprint material, has the research community gravely concerned.
In an open letter to ARC, lead scientists stated, “We are particularly concerned about the impact on early career researchers whose ARC fellowship applications have recently been ruled ineligible because of a violation of this new rule.”
The new rule has particularly impacted physics and astronomy with researchers urging the ARC to rescind the preprint ban as a matter of urgency.
