Is private health insurance worth the investment?

We may be more fortunate than we realise when it comes to medical issues here in Australia. Our expectation of government-paid free healthcare is far from standard around the rest of the world, and if we have an accident or life-threatening health issue come up we don’t need to worry as much about it bankrupting us. So when it comes to private health insurance it makes sense that Australians are a little bit indifferent. Is it worth investing in private health insurance at all? We spoke Adjunct Associate Professor Lesley Russell from the Menzies Centre for Health Policy at University of Sydney.
