We’re only a few of days into the year and already people are calling for 2016 to be the year Australia finally becomes a Republic.

Now that Australia has a Prime Minister, opposition leader and 6 premiers that support the push to become a Republican country, the Australian Republican Movement believes this is the perfect time for a republic.

The National Director of the ARM, Timothy Mayfield, joined us to discuss the change. Sam Baran started by asking why Australians have been reluctant to detach from the British monarchy in the past.
